Resolving Red X Problem in Word Documents
A damaged Word document may exhibit strange behavior which cannot be attributed to normal operation of the application. For instance, incorrect document formatting, unreadable or junk characters, error messages, system crashes when you load a particular file and others. If you prepare Word documents with graphics and images, you must be familiar with the problem of Red X. Many-a-times, when you open your Word file(which contains graphics), some of the graphics may be displayed as partial or whole Red X. And, if your Word document is corrupt, you are required to perform repair word file in order to remove Red X and recover a fine Word document.
Consider a scenario where you create a Word file, related to your college project, in Microsoft Word 2000 and open the same using MS Word 2002, you may not be able to get the whole document as all your graphics would have changed to annoying Red X. You are clueless as what to do because you have to submit this paper urgently.
Cause
The graphics could have been replaced by Red X if any of the following condition is true:
-The directory specified as a temporary directory in Windows does not exist
-If the image has been damaged
-If the document is itself corrupt
Resolution
You can observe the following Word repair steps:
-Modify JPEG or GIF files so that they include only those elements that Word uses. You can use a picture editing program to save the picture
-Verify that you are using a valid temp directory
-Though there is no minimum amount of free disk spacer required to a Word document, most computers require a certain amount of free space to open, close, and save files. -To recover damaged image you can a graphics editing program, save the file in a different format and then attempt to re-insert
-If you don't succeed in removing the Word file corruption, opt for a word recovery software

Your Ipod Crashed Now What – Can It Be Saved?

1.Make sure you do not have the hold function engaged on your Ipod. This feature locks all the buttons on your Ipod to keep them from being accidental pushed. Slide the hold button backward and forward and check to see if your Ipod is now unfrozen.
2.Reset Your Ipod – Resetting your Ipod is like re- booting your computer. To reset push select and menu buttons at the same time and hold them for 10 seconds. If your Ipod resets and is now functioning normally you are safe to use it and connect with your Itunes
Your Ipod displays a sad face – If your Ipod displays a sad icon it is usually not a good sign. Test your Ipod by manually placing your Ipod in disk mode. If this works it is not a hardware problem. To place your Ipod in disk mode.
1.Toggle the hold switch on and off
3.When the logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Possible hard drive problem
If this has happened and you no longer have any songs or data on your Ipod your only option now is to use data recovery software.

ISO to Backup and Restore Your Hard Drive
Do you ever calculate the times you have performed operating systems installations? Well, personally, I cannot remember the actual times I have installed Windows for both work and personal. Let me give some rough figures.
Windows 3.11 – 5 times
Windows 95 – 5 times
Windows 2000 – 5 times
Linux Red Hat – 3 times
Windows Server 2003 – 3 times
Windows Vista – 8 times
Honestly, I never enjoy going through the process of installing any of the operating systems. For those who know me, I will most probably be looking at the progress bar during the installation as if I am very interested. However, I am actually very frustrated and hoping that the progress bar could go as fast as it could be.
Attended Installation
Well, some of you may know that the normal installation through the OS CD or DVD (such as looking at the progress bar and clicking several next buttons) is called attended installation and it is possible that you create your own unattended installation using deployment tools. However, I will not be covering the Windows unattended installation.
Unattended Installation
Most companies use Imaging (ISO) to create a duplicate copy of installed operating system so that they can easily install the exact copy of operating system with their corporate settings to every new machine by extracting the ISO.
- ISO is an archive or a duplicate or backup copy of whatever files that you wish to store
In other words, I create ISO images to backup my entire operating system hard drive data.
I use Hiren BootCD, the all in one Dos Bootable CD. One of the software included is Norton Ghost, which can be used to create hard disk images known as ISOs.
ImgBurn is a Windows program and it's free. You can install it and create ISO images or burn the images into CDs and DVDs.
The difference between the two is that ImgBurn needs to be installed as a Windows program and undeniably, a good and easy tool to create ISO images. However, if your hard disk is corrupted, you won't be able to use ImgBurn unless you have dual booting. 1. Complete an attended installation or manual installation from CD or DVD on one machine
2. Install all the necessary programs that you need such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and the likes
3. Perform operating system updates
After performing the steps above, boot your computer from Hiren BootCD and you will come to a screen for you to select the types of software that are bundled. The ISO file can be stored in your hard disk for easy access but not in the same drive where you install your operating system. If your computer fails to load or startup properly, you can then pop in Hiren BootCD, boot from the CD and restore the ISO file.
- C drive will be the drive where I install my operating system and programs
- D drive will be my document drive
However, after extracting the ISO, you will get the same settings and operating system as of the time when you create the ISO.
Ways to Avoid an EMR Data Disaster
In the event of a natural disaster, your medical practice must be able to recover important information through disaster recovery efforts. A fair number of medical practices received their first test of disaster recovery planning during the Katrina hurricane. The majority of those used paper records and are still trying to recover from the disaster. A large New Orleans-based oncology practice averted certain financial disaster by having this type of recovery system ready. They also had the forethought to bring the binders with instructions for rebuilding the systems. What, then, is a disaster recovery plan? A good plan needs to spell out exactly who does what, what needs to be done, where it is done, and both why and how. Copies of the backup tales are taken to the alternate location by courier, and locked in a fire-safe container. Other more sophisticated (and expensive) backup solutions can add layers on top of this. These sorts of solutions include remote backup services online. However, these solutions are often out of the price range for most small and medium-sized practices.
Don't just toss out the old tapes, though – they must be erased properly and discarded in a way that will keep your practice's information protected.
Don't forget, your plan should comply with HIPAA regulations. We've all heard about laptops which went missing from the VA system and the possibilities for patient information to fall into the wrong hands. Our couriers are our own employees, and both the tape container and the room where they're kept have separate keys.
Are there redundant backup servers? Do you have a redundant power supply? What is your plan for business continuity? What if entrance to your practice is blocked? Will you be forced to cancel appointments, and if so, for how long?
Still, you may need to set up a 'cold' site, using whatever office space is available to suit your changing needs. You may also want to consider a 'sister' office arrangement, an agreement between colleagues or friendly competitors to enter a mutually beneficial arrangement in the case of a disastrous event.
Important paper records should be stored in a water and fire-proof safe. Documents that can't be replaced should be stored in a separate safe location.
Finally, consider business continuity insurance. This will help with cash flow to pay the bills until revenue is back up. This type of insurance could be the difference between financial ruin and eventual recovery after a disaster.
